Caldwell County Nurserymen Association (CCNA) Scholarships
The purpose of the CCNA Scholarship is to identify and reward ornamental horticulture and landscape students who exemplify scholastic aptitude, positive attitude, and industry potential. Work experience within the industry, leadership ability, and financial need will also be considered. The scholarship is open to any student residing in Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, McDowell, or Wilkes County who will be enrolled in a horticulture program at an accredited institution in North Carolina during the 2018‐2019 term. Deadline is March 29, 2019.
C.B. Eller Scholarship
The C.B. Eller Scholarship, sponsored by Wilkes County Retired School Personnel, awards a $1500 scholarship to one graduating high school student who plans to attend some type of post-secondary education. The committee considers the student's academic record, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and financial need in making their decision. Three letters of recommendation are required. Deadline to return your application to your school counselor is March 21, 2018, so that he/she may get all completed applications from the school to the committee by the deadline.
Charles Edward Cathey Masonic Scholarship
Eight non-renewable $1000 scholarships will be awarded.The Cathey Scholarship, funded by the Freemasons of North Carolina through the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, rewards high school seniors who have demonstrated academic achievement. The Grand Lodge Scholarship Committee selects recipients. The scholarship committee will consider factors including scholastic achievement, participation in extracurricular and civic activities, involvement in the community and personal recommendations. Deadline is March 15, 2019.
Clingman Medical Center Scholarship
$2500 per semester maximum for a student who has been dedicated to community service and plans to pursue a career in the medical field. Deadline is March 15, 2019.
Community Foundation of Western North Carolina
CFWNC serves students in the western region of North Carolina, including Wilkes County. Many scholarships are listed, with deadlines falling between January and July. Donald Patrick Darden Scholarship
This scholarship is available to children, grandchildren, stepchildren and step-grandchildren of members of the North Carolina Highway Patrol attending East Carolina University. Deadline is March 30, 2018.
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
While filing the FAFSA is not a scholarship, it is an essential part of seeking scholarships and financial aid for college. Many scholarship programs use FAFSA calculations to determine financial need. Additionally, colleges and universities award federal financial aid dollars based on a first-come, first-served basis, so you want to be sure you are considered for aid you may be eligible to receive. Forgiveable Education Loans for Service (FELS)
Established by the NC General Assembly in 2011, the Forgiveable Education Loans for Service (FELS) provides financial assistance to qualified students enrolled in an approved education program and committed to working in critical employment shortage professions in NC. High school seniors are eligible if they are NC residents, have a weighted gpa of 3.0 or higher, have registered with the Selective Service (if applicable), and enroll in a applicable educational program and continue to make satisfactory progress toward graduation at the senior institution. Foundation for Rural Service Scholarships

Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) Scholarships
GAAS partners with the University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UAF) and more than 30 other organizations to provide scholarships for students training to become automotive, heavy duty or collision repair technicians, and to students in business, marketing, engineering, or other major courses of study. This collaborate group has awarded more than 2,500 scholarships since 1998.One application allows you to be considered for all of these scholarships. Deadline is March 31.
HCMH Foundation Healthcare Scholarship
This $2500/semester scholarship seeks to invest in the local community by recognizing and providing financial support to individuals who want to further their education in the field of healthcare. Successful applicants will be entering a two or four-year college planning to major in a medical field (including, but not limited to nursing, physical therapy, administration, radiology, etc.) Deadline is March 15.
James E. and Violet A. Carson Scholarship
Successful applicants are residents of Wilkes County who have been accepted into a two or four-year college or university and demonstrate financial need. First preference will be given to members of or children of Cub Creek Baptist Church in Moravian Falls; second preference will be for students who live in Moravian Falls; and third preference will be given to other county residents. Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Janice M. Scott by her family following her death in the terrorist attack on the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. to read more about this scholarship, please visit their website. Mrs. Scott was a tremendous advocate for youth and a dedicated supporter of community service in the Greater Washington, D.C. metro area. Three to five $2500 scholarships are awarded each year. While the primary consideration for the scholarship is financial need, candidates are also evaluated based on academics, community service, and writing skill. National Technical Honor Society Scholarships

NC Alpha Delta Kappa Student Achievement Scholarship
Eligible applicants must be graduating from a NC high school, planning to attend a two or four-year college or university, have a weighted gpa between 2.5 and 3.5, and either a SAT score (Critical Reading, Math & Writing) in the range of 1344-1560 or an ACT composite score of 20-24. Applicants are also judged based on their service to school, community, and church, as well as their integrity and leadership potential. Please note: Candidates with a higher gpa and test scores will NOT be considered. Deadline is March 1, 2019.
NC Cooperative Extension Administrative Professionals (NCCEAPA) Herter O'Neal Scholarship
Offers a $750 scholarship for a student pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in business or a business-related field of study. This brochure provide full details on eligibility. Deadline is March 21, 2019.
NC Golden Leaf Scholars Program
$12,000 scholarship to a student enrolled in a public or private high school or community college in one of the participating 79 counties (Wilkes is one) who plans to attend one of the UNC system schools in the fall. Student must have financial need and have a strong record of academic achievement with extracurricular and community involvement. Applications are completed on CFNC website. Deadline to complete the application and file your FAFSA (both must be done) is March 1.
NCHSAA Endowed Funds Scholarships
Thanks to the generosity of many donors, there are several scholarships offered to eligible student-athletes. Deadlines fall between November and April and require the submission of a form to the high school counselor to release transcripts to the scholarship committee. Please review all scholarships offered to determine your eligibility.
NC Youth Bowling Association Scholarship
$2000 to a student who is a member of the NC State US Bowling Congress (USBC) Association. Scholarship can be used for an type of post-secondary study. Deadline is March 1.
People Helping People by the State Employees' Credit Union Foundation
$10,000 scholarship to a public high school student attending one of the UNC system schools next year. Student must be a member of the State Employees Credit Union (SECU) or be eligible for membership through their parent/guardian, have at least a 2.5 gpa, and must have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement. Preference will be given to students whose parents/guardians are public sector employees (federal, state, or local government; public health; or public education) who live and work in North Carolina. Additionally, preference will be given to students who are majoring in public service degree programs (such as public health, public education, public administration, or public policy). The detailed list of eligibility criteria for this scholarship is located here. The District Scholarship Committee will review applications from all county high schools and select the three students who will move forward to represent the county. Final scholarship notifications will be made by SECU. All application forms (includes essay) must be submitted as Microsoft Word documents (not PDF's or Google docs). The other required supporting documents can be in other formats. Those documents include a signed Consent Form, a Student Bio, a copy of your acceptance letter from a UNC system school, and a color photo (head shot only). SECU provides these tips on writing your student bio. This application checklist may be helpful in assuring you are submitting all of the required parts of the application. The deadline for applications to be returned to high school counselors is March 1, 2019.
R. Flake Shaw Scholarship
The NC Farm Bureau offers these scholarships (six university level scholarships valued at $4,000 per year for four years of student at a college or university in an agriculturally-related field and two $1,000 scholarships to a community college to receive an associate's degree in an agriculturally-related field (or to prepare for transfer to a university) to recognize students who have exhibited leadership during high school and will continue to serve their communities in the future. There are two application forms, one for 4-year college/universities and another for community college applicants. Deadline is March 4, 2019.
Rear Admiral Scott Sears Memorial JROTC Scholarship

Surry-Yadkin Electric Membership Corporation Youth Tour Scholarship
This scholarship is for $500 and includes an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., to tour the monuments, museums, and visit with elected officials on Capitol Hill. An interest in politics is not required and students may attend the college or university of their choice. Students must live in a residence served by the Surry-Yadkin Electric Co-Op. The Foundation has been providing financial assistance to students for over 94 years and has helped more than 15,000 students attend college. In 2017-2018, the Foundation's 121 student aid funds provided 583 awards totaling $978,000 in student aid.
